Diary of an Eccentric marketing online
April 1, 2008
What does it take to really be considered “good” when it comes to online marketing? When you know you’ve cracked the nut of your niche market and may have other I invite you to do their marketing for them? I spent with me this metamorphosis in recent years. I stumbled along this path somewhat reluctantly, but along the way I discovered many secrets.
New York dreams reduced to dust
Having lost my career at 911, New York, I found myself in a strange position in life. It was found that in all my adventures I had also acquired a great experience in the labour market. Others considered that I was too costly and too experienced to stay in it. I had a good list of customers for my curriculum this stage of my life. These include Capital Records, Oprah Winfrey, WWF, Coca Cola, Citibank, Arthur Andersen, and a whole plethora of dot com companies from Chicago to New York.
911 had led to a lot of change in my field. I had some other reasons for leaving New York and I made the trek back to my home state of Michigan. When I saw I had a very strange welcome. Michigan had a very distinct response to all this great work experience and that as a clear message. The job market has given me the finger and told me to “get lost”.
As Art Director, who has worked for many of the best advertising companies in the sector, I had two choices. I was able to take Michigan’s advice and curl up in a ball and die. That is to say I could do even online marketing cheap and become a commodity, with all the charm of your local street beggar or could become brilliant. I decided to make a second because I was never very good at being poor and I have always been for a big street fight.
Dust me off to laugh and the locals I decided to get as many mentors as I could afford. In fact, I blew a fortune to these types and I tried them in the most unlikely. I found surprising minds across the globe and willingly shelled the thousands to keep them under my employ. I found surprising copywriters that led% in 4000 response rates. I found that online marketing were running 35% ROI campaigns with little or no effort. I had to search high and low to find the most incredible minds worldwide.
See my mentors to time
There’s an old saying that says: “When the student is ready – teachers will be displayed” and that is exactly what happened. Of course I had to do a little ‘to search. In a few months has been really well paid. I had acquired the help of this amazing minds as Dan Kennedy, (Master of the market and Millionaire Maker), Corey Rudl and Derek Ghel, (Internet Marketing Center), Mark Joyner, (New Zealand), Orange Beetle – Forrest Alan Smith, (London, England UK), Brett McFall, (Australia) and jumped into the first row to local mastermind groups that I found on the Internet.
I went with a lot of books during this time. Actually I was spending over $ 100 U.S. dollars per week only business books. That may not sound like much to you. But the difference is that I read these books were not for show and tell. I have absorbed like a sponge. I read everything I could get my hands on starting with classics like “Think and grow rich” by Napoleon Hill and this would lead to modern classics such as “No BS Kick Ass Sales Guide” by Dan Kennedy that completely changed my life and how I looked at the sales. I had all sales writing books I could get by Maria Volossos, Bob Bly and John Caples. These books have begun to build every week and I had to put them in boxes. Do not let the disorder worry too much about me as I need more and more information to make things happen in my business.
Why the Web was changing faster than I could talk I needed to be well rounded on everything. I got a book of digital film production so I was able to keep pace with the Web 2.0 innovations online. I needed equipment too so I ran out and got the best HD cameras I could afford. Along with this came lights, green screens, tripods and sound equipment.
As you can imagine in a few months I had a ton of material. I had a high industrial kitchen pot rack I bought from “Bath and Beyond” only to keep all my books. The number of all these learning materials hours numbered somewhere in the 700. Not only could speak the language of marketing I was currently using the techniques that I had acquired to obtain new customers and sales.
I wrote my offers sales and my sales and letters sent out to clueless CEO’s, and got the job. In fact, I took my business from zero dollars to $ 340k on average. I was surprised at the differences between the two cultures of Michigan and New York and here is what I found.
New York mentality vs Michigan’s economy collapsed
Michigan is proud of a job in which ethics is time for the exchange of money. They view this as “hard work” or “hard work”. I have another view on this where I say that is “almost working.” The other thing I can say is that Michigan has a lot of traditional industry. E ‘proud of things you can pull out of the land and sell to the public. They are resistant to change and are incredibly stubborn when it comes to emerging technology.
New York, on the other hand, the technology and embraces a lot of businesses are run on ideas. These companies based on technology that also move money from one place to another. Indeed, their activities online and interact with customers bases right online. This is a very strong difference between the two States economy. Since they are always moving forward that can attract a lot of money and international remain strong. It has a powerful and dynamic different.
Now the question becomes what to do with all this? My company had spiraled out of control in a way very good. You see, now I was in California, Florida, Michigan, Canada, New York City, South Carolina, Connecticut in a few months. I had actually become an international company in less than a year. There’s a lot of new energy flowing through my business is something that I never expected. I have a duty to be diligent at all and research mentors.
E ‘tying together
After I built this company from scratch I had a real problem on my hands. I had all these books and materials that I got through a lot of rough times in my life. I still relied on them and not dream of throwing or sales. The opportunity came along where I could share with the rest of my Dan Kennedy Coaching group in Brighton, Michigan.
And today is that, if they are – all 700 + of them. They take all in a wall marketing resource library where they can be used to inspire and build another potential budding entrepreneur. These books are a surprising testimony of what only one person can do. With these books I was able to break down the barricades of corporate America and limited means of income. I used thesis active propelled me levels at levels of mediocrity and low mentality thinking. These tools have allowed me to build an international success within a very short period of time (approximately 18 months).
My advice for those wishing to become their leader is to seek mentors. And ‘the fastest way to achieve what you want out of life. Need to find people who have already done the things you want to do. I found mentors in almost every area of my life where I need help including financial, copywriting, marketing, online marketing, strategic business planning and spiritual help and guidance. They are out there and meet under many names including, life coaching, business coaching, spiritual guides and gurus.
